Tara has decided to volunteer her time to start a Bright Line Eating support group for interested folks here in Campbell River!
Here is what Tara has to say:
For those that don't know... I read a book called Bright line eating, by Dr. Susan Pierce Thompson, that changed my life, just over a year ago. After reading it, I realized that I was a food addict, and at 224 pounds (which was class 2 obese at only 5'3" tall), I needed to implement a strong plan to get a grip on my dysfunctional relationship with food.
The great news is, there is no cost (and no catch) to what I did to lose 70 pounds and feel stronger and healthier than I have in my entire life. By decreasing my exercise (to focus my willpower on my food), only eating 3 meals a day, planning my meals the night before, and joining a weekly support group, I was able to begin healing from a lifetime of overeating and food obsession.
I found the local support group to be key to my success when I was starting Bright Line Eating last January. The group closed several months ago... and many folks have asked me over the last little while if I would start another group. So the answer is yes!
Here are the details. Feel free to spread the word.
When: Sunday evenings 8:30-9:30pm
Where: Campbell River Wellness Centre: 516 S. Dogwood St. Campbell River, BC V9W 6R4
Who: I will be facilitating this and everyone who is interested to get support in their BLE journey is welcome.
What: We will do a circle of introductions and check in about successes and struggles we are facing. We will share strategies with one another for what works, recipes and tools for living lives free from food addiction
Why: Because healing from food addiction and dysfunctional relationships with food is unbelievably hard work. Research on addiction says that those that access support groups are much more successful than those who try to do it alone. We all want to live our lives in our healthiest, strongest and most fit bodies, while experiencing freedom from food obsession.
Other details: I am volunteering my time and will not have any monetary gain from facilitating this group. Group members will be invited to make a donation (of any small amount) to contribute towards the use of the space.
Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions! I am open to ideas.
Wishing you a bright and shiny day!
Tara
PS. This photo is me Jan. 2. 2018 and me 9 months later (September 2, 2018). I decreased my exercise from 3 days a week to once per week, and just ate fruits, vegetables, protein, grains (like oatmeal, rice, quinoa or potatoes) with breakfast, and 3 small servings of fat per day to make these changes.
PPS. For folks that aren't in Campbell River, or who can't make the meetings... I have a whole email of information with attachments I can send you. Just email me at taraonthego@hotmail.com, or put your email in the comments below, if you want me to send things your way. 🙂
